The new J1and J2 Visa requirements for foreign exchange students.

School is back session and we at TravelersAlly hope that everyone had wonderful adventures traveling this summer. We have some housekeeping for school administrators, parents of exchange students, and foreign exchange students.

On May 2015, the J1 and J2 requirements changed for the medical coverage exchange visitors must have to keep their VISA status.

 

The Department of State requires that exchange visitors applying for a J Visa to have proof of health insurance coverage that meets the minimum requirements set by the ACA (Affordable Care Act). Also, any dependents such as children or spouses accompanying the exchange visitor must also be covered under a qualifying health plan during their time visiting the country.
